Project Narrative

My project, titled "A Sustainable Approach to Urban Parking Services: Protecting Nature through Paperless Systems," aimed to enhance parking satisfaction in Ireland by reducing paper usage and promoting environmental sustainability. I set specific objectives to cut down on paper consumption in urban parking systems by introducing smart QR codes as an alternative to traditional paper tickets. This digital approach is designed to minimize waste and boost convenience. I assessed the environmental and operational drawbacks of paper-based parking systems, highlighting their inefficiencies and wastefulness. Literature indicates a strong need for digital solutions that support broader sustainability initiatives. To better understand user preferences, I conducted a survey and analyzed the results using pie charts and a SWOT analysis. The project design included developing a mobile app and upgrading ticketing machines to support QR codes for parking validation and payment. A low-fidelity prototype was created using Figma, followed by user testing. Based on the test results, I categorized the feedback and proceeded to the development phase, where I established the project’s brand name, goals, mission, values, and vision. The final deliverable was the "EcoPark Connect" app, which was represented by a high-fidelity prototype developed in Figma. Project branding and documentation are available through the provided Figma link.
